Pupils from Williamwood high school will be participating in a sponsored walk at the end of this month in an attempt to raise money for the school’s Malawi partnership.
The science department will lead all volunteering S1 pupils on a five-mile circular trip around Waterfoot in what has been described as, “a fun and healthy way to raise money”.
All donations received for the walk will then be divided between two areas important to Williamwood: the school’s ties with Ekwendeni, a town in northern Malawi, and the school fund.
Money for Malawi was also raised by local pupils earlier in the summer, who took part in a bag-pack session at Asda in Newton Mearns.
They managed to accumulate £906 on that occasion and staff at the school will be hoping to see similar generosity from members of the public over the coming weeks.
Taking place on Wednesday the 26th, the event will be supported by community police, with a large number of teachers and sixth year pupils also aiming to take time out in order to assist supervise the proceedings.
