Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a 78 year-old man missing from his home in the Giffnock area since Wednesday, November 4.
Ian Alexander Howie (78) was last seen by his son around 2pm at the family home on Fenwick Road. Ian has left his home in an unknown direction without giving any indication as to where he was going.
He is described as a white male with a slim build. He has short grey hair and is approximately 5 ft 8’.
He was last seen wearing a red jacket, dress trousers and brown leather shoes.
Ian has Alzheimer’s disease. He takes regular medication and it is unlikely that he has those tablets in his possession.
Inspector Ewan Henderson, of Greater Glasgow Police Division, said today: “We understand that Ian is poorly dressed for the conditions. There are real concerns for his wellbeing given that Ian has Alzheimer’s disease. He has gone missing before, but never for this length of time.
“Our focus is to trace Ian safe and well. Officers are currently searching for Ian across the southside of the city. We are checking available CCTV and contacting staff in local businesses to assist with the search.
“At this time we seek assistance from the public in tracing Ian safe and well. We would ask those in the community to check back gardens or communal areas. Anyone who has any information as to his whereabouts, please contact officers at Barrhead police office immediately on the 101 number.”
