Barrhead’s Men’s Shed has been selected to participate in this year’s annual Doors Open Day throughout East Ren.
A Men’s Shed is a larger version of the typical garden shed – ‘a place where you can feel at home and pursue practical interests with freedom and independence’ says shed secretary, Ross McKemmie.
The Barrhead group is taking part in the East Ren Doors Open Day on September 9 and 10, and in spite of its title, Barrhead, it actually serves all of East Renfrewshire.
Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free festival that celebrates heritage and the built environment. It offers free access to over a thousand venues across the country throughout September, every year.
The aim of Doors Open Days is to ensure that Scotland’s built heritage, new and old, is made accessible to people living and visiting the country on weekends in September.
If you fancy a wee peek inside the hallowed grounds of the shed with a tour and chat contact the group via email on: firstname.lastname@example.org or simply pop along to: 9 Robertson Street, Barrhead, G78 1QW.
Further information is available from the group and then open days on their website at: www.barrheadmensshed.weebly.com.
