Marking a decade of Parkrun

Pollok Parkrun – the only one of its kind in the Southside – celebrated its 10th anniversary on Saturday.

Even the slight drizzle couldn’t dampen the parkrun spirits as more than 600 runners turned out for the event.

A rendition of Scotland the Brave by Eastwood High School pupil Harrison Bishop (12) on pipes, along with another piper and drummer, got the run underway.

Since the first event in Pollok Country Park in December 2008 – which saw around 44 people take part – the number of regular parkruns across the country has risen to more than 40.
