Kirsten Oswald MP has welcomed news that Barrhead has been designated Scotland’s Most Improved Small or Medium Sized Town of 2015 at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Barrhead saw off a strong challenge from the border town of Kelso to gain the award at the Scottish Urban Regeneration Forum Awards in Glasgow on Thursday 10 December.
Kirsten said: “It is good to see the transformation of Barrhead is well under way, with major investment in new town centre facilities and in new housing.
“Coming on top of the recent announcement that the new Barrhead High School is back on track this award is a real boost for the town.
“Congratulations are due to all those involved in driving forward the regeneration and to the people of Barrhead for a well-deserved award.”
