A Newton Mearns schoolgirl is bursting with excitement after learning that she has won a scholarship to TV’s Abby Lee Dance Studios in LA.
Kiri Dalkin (9), who lives at home with mum Louise and dad Colin, attends Hutchesons Grammar School in Pollokshields, where she is in primary four.
The rising star is no stranger to stardom however appearing regularly in panto and as the face of Historic Scotland’s brochures.
However, this latest achievementwill see her travelling across the Atlantic to Los Angeles where she will spend the summer in intensive training with one of the biggest names in Dance instruction.
This once in a lifetime chance will allow Kiri to participate dance masterclasses with world-renowned dance instructor Abby Lee Miller.
Abby, who is the star of hit US TV show Dance Moms and the founder of the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC), was visiting Scotland as part of her “International Dance Adventure” tour.
The larger than life celebrity, who features on Lifetime TV every Monday evening, got up close with around 300 dancers at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh, where she taught a warm up, gave technical pointers, taught choreography from her TV show and held an audition workshop – where she selected five lucky winners, including Kiri, for a summer scholarship at her very popular dance studios based in Los Angeles.
