It's business as usual for the Battlefield Rest

The owner of landmark venue the Battlefield Rest is keen to let the public know that it is 'business as usual' at the popular eatery.

Last year, Marco Giannasi’s south side business was threatened with an 550 per cent rates hike.

The business that he has built up over many years from scratch, and with it the fate of around 16 jobs, was at stake.

Mr Giannasi has been handed a rates rise estimate which would see his present £6,200 per year bill rocket to an astronomic £33,120.

However, he wants to clear up any misunderstanding and let everyone known that the Battlefield Rest is remaining open.

Mr Giannasi said: “We have an ongoing issue with our Rates Valuation as you know for over 400 per cent increase.

But we are and we will continue to trade no matter what the outcome will be, no one will stop us doing what we do best.

“We also have received last week two awards from Scotland Business retail Awards for Best Restaurant and Glasgow Business 2018 and Lux Magazine has awarded us the Most Authentic Italian Restaurant 2018.

“We also have the tram Project application submitted and a plan for a Sedum canopies to be installed not forgetting our Bee Hyves that every year produce our own honey.

He continued: “And of course looking forward next year to celebrate our 25th anniversary, with this in mind nothing will stop us to continue and looking forward positively to our future.

“I would like to thank all Extra readers for their support and understanding, nothing is changed only as we say business as usual.”
