The search is on for walkers willing to lead groups of older people in East Renfrewshire as they take their first steps into the activity.
Free, one-day training will be provided to walk leaders, equipping volunteers with the tools to set up a new walking group, or to lead an existing one, and ongoing support will be provided by East Ren CHCP’s health improvement team.
Councillor Alan Lafferty, convener for social work and health, said: “We are looking to help people set up or access walking groups across East Ren.
“Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier. It’s ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels who want to be more active.”
