Netherlee Primary School PTA's first ever Halloween Festival was a great success '“ raising more than £2,700 for the school.

Parents and pupils enjoyed a variety of fun activities including a buckin’ bronco – where there were prizes for those that could stay on the longest – getting up close and personal to animals, workshops, face painting, sand art, fancy dress competitions, hot dog stand, home made sweets and a Halloween-themed selfie booth.

Children were also given a pumpkin to take home to carve as part of a competition.

Judith Wilkinson, from the PTA, said: “As it was the first event, we weren’t sure how it would turn out, but it was fantastic, raising £2,772.

“Local businesses donated items, including Lidl, who donated pumpkins; hot dogs and rolls from Sainsbury’s (Muirend); Morrisons (Giffnock), who donated toffee apples; and Asda (Newton Mearns) for apples for our dooking; as well as Flanders Farm who allowed us to borrow hay bales.”
