Boys and girls from Giffnock Soccer Centre have donated an incredible £4,000 to Yorkhill Children’s Charity.
Some 300 kids from the 2004-2009 age groups were busy fundraising throughout 2015, including youngsters, parents and coaches lacing up their trainers for the Great Scottish Run — despite the event clashing with the annual SFA tournaments.
The children were invited to the children’s hospital to see where all their hard-earned money wold go, including the Yorkhill MediCinema and Teddy Hospital.
Alan Dobson, of Giffnock Soccer Centre, said: “We have all done charity fundraising for different reasons, but Yorkhill Children’s Charity is always in everyone’s thoughts.
“We all enjoyed taking part in the Great Scottish Run, and we look forward to continuing to support the charity.”
Kirsten Sinclair, director of fundraising at Yorkhill, commented: “The boys and girls at Giffnock Soccer Centre should be very proud of themselves on this wonderful achievement.
“As we take our place at the heart of the new children’s hospital, the support from individuals and businesses in local communities is essential to help us deliver the highest level of care for patients and their families.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of everyone at the soccer centre, and look forward to working with them more in 2016.”
