Giffnock man, Professor Leo Martin has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his services to healthcare and education.
The Law Professor has been chairman of St Margaret of Scotland Hospice in Clydebank for the past 12 years. He joined the board of directors 20 years ago.
Hospice Chief Executive Sister Rita Dawson said she was thrilled for Leo, his wife Louise and four children.
She added: “Leo is a wonderful chairman, totally loyal, steadfast, committed and always very active in standing up for the most vulnerable in our society.
“He has been entirely focused in his support for this hospice, giving hours and hours of his time freely.”
Professor Martin said: “It has been a huge privilege to serve on the hospice board. This honour recognises the dedication and hard work of staff who provide the highest standard of care for terminally ill patients and their families every day. We should also remember the fundraisers who work tirelessly to keep the hospice open.”
