Three members of the Newton Mearns Community First Responders group were delighted to receive a cheque for £1,200 – proceeds of a ceilidh fundraiser held recently in Whitecraigs Rugby Club, organized by Broom, Kirkhill and Mearnskirk Community Council.

The presentation took place at Parklands Hotel on Ayr Road, which voluntary members of the group use as a base to respond from when on duty.

Group coordinator Bev Brown, said: “The ceilidh was a great success and we are very grateful to the community council and everyone who attended and contributed raffle and silent auction prizes for this welcome boost to our funds.

“The money will be put towards purchasing training equipment for use at public demonstrations and events to raise awareness of CPR and public access defibrillators.”
