Despite being closed for three weeks for road repairs, reader Giulio Celino claims that the work undertaken by the council is of a shockingly poor standard.
Eaglesham Road in Newton Mearns was in no great condition before closing for essential repair works to be undertaken.
However Giulio claims that in places, no repairs have been carried out and he cannot understand why, when being closed for such a length of time, the full road wasn’t resurfaced at one time.
We put that question to the council, who responded: “Eaglesham Road was shut for a total of 15 days to enable us to carry out road works on approximately one third of the road in a safe manner. During this time we repaired and resurfaced all major road defects within the section. We are working on the road in sections based on budget approval at the start of each financial year. During this time the sections still waiting to be treated will be maintained and any significant defects will be attended to. In the current financial year and the next two years we have committed more than £4.4m for investment in the existing roads network.”
