A southside reader has accused Glasgow City Council of neglecting its duty to preserve our built Victorian heritage.
John Murphy, a former member of the Greek Thompson Society, and who is passionate about Victorian heritage, has said certain buildings of importance in Glasgow and here on the southside are being ignored, to the point where they can no longer be saved.
In particular Mr Murphy was referring to the Sir John Maxwell School in Pollokshaws, which he claims is in ‘grave danger’
Mr Murphy says if nothing is done, we will have no built heritage to pass to younger generations.
However, Glasgow City Council has defeneded it’s position and has highlighted several recent examples of regeneration projects.
