Alongside the usual passenger train the railway will have all its operational diesel locomotives in action, running light locomotives for Cab Rides to the public, and freight trains in between the normal passenger operations.

The signal box will be in operation and visitors will be given the opportunity to view the inside of the signal box and get an insight into its operation.

The frame within the box was originally on the West Highland Line at Arrochar and Tarbet and dates from 1880.

The bricks that clad the signal box were salvaged when the Rispin Cluech Viaduct on the original branch line to Leadhills was demolished in the 1990s.

And at the other end of Clydesdale, in Carluke, Woodhurst Nursing Home is holding its summer fete in its grounds.

There will be a bouncy castle, petting zoo, face painting, stalls, cakes and a tombola. Other attractions include demonstrations from Joanne’s Dancing Troupe and Jamieson’s Dance Studio.

The fete runs from 1pm to 3pm.
