A former Williamwood High student is aiming to progress to the grand finals of one of the UK’s most prestigious catering competitions.
Budding Clarkston chef Nicolle Finnie is among a trio of talented hospitality students from City of Glasgow College hoping to impress judges at the regional heats of the Nestle Toque D’Or.
Eighteen-year-old Nicolle, a former pupil of Williamwood High School and Netherlea Primary School, is part of a three-strong student team who are competing over two days.
This year’s three-strong contingent from the college has progressed to the last 36.
Nicolle, a second-year student of HND Professional Cookery, thinks her experience in representing City of Glasgow College in previous competitions could prove valuable to her and her team-mates.
She said: “Having competed in competitions before, I now know how to manage my time and emotions better while working under a lot of stress and pressure. Team competitions are totally different to those where you work on your own – you are learning from each other and developing your skills as a team.
“I feel pretty confident. We have a good team and work well together, we will push each other on.”
Nicolle, who previously worked at Glasgow’s One Devonshire Gardens is now working for the prestigious Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.
