Three hard-working musicians from Hutchesons’ Grammar School have been accepted into Glasgow’s Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Facing stiff competition from many others around Europe, the three managed to secure their places.
Two pupils — Rachel McKenzie, from Hamilton, and Alexander Maxwell, from Bothwell — will take part in the Tommy Smith jazz course.
They will take two of only nine places being offered by the Conservatoire for the BA (Hons) jazz course.
The third pupil is actor Craig McCorquodale who will study for a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Performance.
All three 17-year-olds are delighted by their acceptance.
Craig said: “I can’t wait to get there. It was my first choice but I didn’t know if I would get in as it isn’t typical for a 17-year-old straight out of school to be accepted.”
Alexander said: “I am really looking forward to studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.”
Hutchesons’ Rector Dr Ken Greig said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our pupils.”
