SCHOOL leavers are encouraged to apply for a paid place on a construction skills course run by East Renfrewshire council and Reid Kerr college.
The programme, beginning in September, will be delivered in Barrhead and funded through Skills Development Scotland’s Get Ready for Work programme.
Training includes a national progression award at intermediate level two, in construction, as well as a series of units involving brickwork, carpentry and joinery, roofing and plumbing skills.
Health and safety training is also included, leading to a pass in the construction skills CSCS test, sd erll as work placements to provide real experience for job seekers.
