EAST Renfrewshire provost Alastair Carmichael welcomed the winner of the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership to Bonnyton Golf Club in Eaglesham recently.
Jim, a blind golfer and past chairman of the partnership, received a bottle of whisky from the East Ren councillor in celebration of his win.
The sportsman has been awarded an MBE for services to disabled golf, and last year fulfilled a life-long ambition to score a hole in one.
Provost Carmichael commented: “It’s an inspiration to come to an event like this and see first-hand how golfers overcame their disabilities to enjoy competing in matches around some of the best courses in Scotland”.
The SDGP is a registered charity which organises multiple events across Scotland, ensuring that anyone with a disability has the opportunity to play. More information on these events can be found at the SDGP website.
