Did you see crash near Biggar yesterday?

Police officers are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road crash on the A702 road near Biggar yesterday (Thursday June 16).

Around 5.35pm a Volkswagen Crafter Van was travelling south on the A702 (approximately 1.5 miles north of Candymill Road) near Biggar, when it collided with a Peugeot Partner Van.

The passenger of the Peugeot, a 58-year-old man, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

The 32-year-old driver of the Peugeot appeared uninjured; however, he too was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a precaution.

The 26-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen Van did not require medical attention.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damage in the collision and the road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries.

Road Policing officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or the vehicles to contact them at Motherwell Police Office on the police non-emergency number, 101.
