JAM Dance and Cheer, based in Giffnock, is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund.
Part of the JAM School of Dance, JAM Dance and Cheer is a small dance and cheerleading squad for girls up to the age of 20.
The squad has previously won regional and national competitions as well as being crowned the JAMfest Europe champions in the Mini and Senior Pom Dance category in 2015.
Jacqueline McGrory, team coach and owner of JAM School of Dance, says: “The girls work extremely hard and have had some great successes. Most recently, the team has won a bid to compete at the World Cheer and Dance competition in Florida.
“This donation from the GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund will contribute toward the cost of transporting 14 girls to Orlando to compete in the competition.”
GALAXY Hot Chocolate is looking to help small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating cash awards to support warm-hearted people and projects.
Michelle Frost, spokeswoman for GALAXY Hot Chocolate said: “We know that across the UK and Ireland smaller charities and community groups are struggling to make ends meet despite the efforts of a huge number of warm-hearted volunteers.
“The GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund aims to give them a helping hand and hopefully inspire more people to get involved.”
Jacqueline spoke to The Extra saying: “The girls are all from East Renfrewshire and attend local schools. They are working hard at training, fundraising and many of the girls also have part time jobs in local businesses. If anyone is interested in sponsoring the club we’d love to hear from them.”
