Police Scotland officers from Pollok Police Office are appealing for information and witnesses following a serious assault involving two drivers which occurred near to the junction of the M77 Northbound on Barrhead Road on Thursday, May 5.

Around 3.30pm, two men, both driving vans, were involved in a verbal altercation with each other near to the M77 Northbound. Both men left their vehicles during this altercation and one man, driving a white Ford Transit with bright green writing on the side, was struck on the head by the other van driver, who was driving a red Nissan van with roof bars. He required hospital treatment for his injuries.

Both drivers then carried on along the M77 Northbound.

Detective Constable Fiona Kane, who is dealing with this enquiry, said today: “The area in which the assault took place was at the very busy junction of the M77 adjacent to Silverburn Shopping Centre, and the road was very busy at that time. We understand that a number of other motorists witnessed the incident, as a number of them were held in the traffic as the two vans had stopped on the busy road.

“Our enquiries have revealed that before the assault took place, the two drivers of the vans were driving erratically and at speed on Barrhead Road. I would like to trace anyone who was in the vicinity of Barrhead Road between 3.30 and 3.40pm, and who recognises the descriptions of the vans and/or the driving behaviour.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
