And officers think they might have found out what make of car was involved in the accident in Main Street near the Co-op around 2.30pm.
The 13-year-old boy was struck by what is now believed to have been a grey coloured five door Vauxhall Corsa around which has apparently sustained damage to its front passenger headlight.

Hide AdThe young victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.
Police have also issued a direct appeal for the driver to come forward.
