Police appeal following serious assault in Shawlands

Police in Glasgow are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in the Shawlands area.

A 28-year-old man was assaulted on Tantallon Road at around 2.30pm on Friday 11 October.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with facial and back injuries.

DC Peter McFarlane, of Greater Glasgow CID, said: “This incident happened around the time that prayers were ending at the nearby Jamia Islamia Muslim Centre and I believe it would have been witnessed by others.

“We are currently making door-to-door enquiries and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.

“We would also welcome any additional CCTV of the area, which may be able to assist our investigation.”
