Police are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set on fire in Shawlands in the early hours of Friday.

At around 3.50am on Friday 17 May 2019 emergency services were called after a man was seen setting a silver Renault Megane on fire on Glenspean Street. He then made off on foot towards Beauford Avenue.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded top with the hood up covering his face and shorts.

Detective Constable Kris Elliott, Govan Police Office, said: “Deliberately setting fire to a car is dangerous and reckless and it is lucky that nobody was injured.

“We have been checking CCTV and making door to door enquiries to try to trace the person responsible but are now appealing to anyone who may know anything about this incident to get in touch with us.

“Think back, do you remember seeing or hearing anything in the early hours of Friday morning in the Glenspean Street area? Or do you have personal home CCTV or dash-cam footage that might be able to help us?

“We urge you to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 0370 of Friday 17 May 2019. Alternatively you can contact CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where information can be given in confidence.
