A new police chief based at Govan Police Office has taken over as the Area Commander for Glasgow South West Area.
Chief Inspector Alan Bowater has overall command for policing activities from Govan, Pollok and Pollokshaws police offices and their respective areas.
He said: “I am delighted to take up my new post and I’m really looking forward to working with the local community, partner agencies, elected members and all other groups here to help reduce crime and improve the quality of life for all those who live, work and visit the area.
“We have a great team of officers and my focus will be on building and maintaining a local focus on all that we do ensuring that we listen to the community we serve and address their concerns.
“One of the first areas that we are looking at is to reduce anti-social behaviour, vandalism and other criminal activities which tend to rise during the summer holiday period.
“We have been working on our South West Summer Safety Initiative with partners including Community Safety Glasgow, Glasgow Life, local schools and youth groups.”
