A company director from Newton Mearns was caught with indecent images of children on a computer in his office.

Police also found hundreds of video clips featuring child sex abuse when they raided David Cullen’s home.

Cullen (53), of Ramsay Court, Newton Mearns, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.

He admitted downloading indecent images between February 2007 and July last year.

The court heard he was a director of of a company based in East Kilbride.

Vish Kathuria, prosecuting, said police raided the factory last summer after receiving information that an IP address there was linked to child porn images.

A desktop computer seized from Cullen’s office contained ten photographs and four video clips depicting child sex abuse.

A hard drive found at his home had 16 photos and 251 video clips. More than half of the films were ranked in the most serious category.

The images featured girls as young as five.

Sheriff Thomas Millar told Cullen, who has no previous convictions, that because of the nature of the charge he required background reports and a risk assessment before passing sentence.

Cullen was placed on the sex offenders register. He had his bail continued and must return to court for sentence in May.

The sheriff will decide then how long he will spend on the register.
