The swings, which have been funded by the council’s community benefits, will allow those in a wheelchair to enjoy a trip to the park in a safe and secure environment.

They can only be used by wheelchair users and are kept locked at all times when not in use.

The swings can be accessed with the nationally used RADAR key, with user instructions and webbing for securing wheelchairs stored in the swing’s restraint compartment.

Councillor Alan Lafferty, Convenor for Environment at East Renfrewshire Council, said: “I am really pleased that we have added to the fantastic facilities at Carlibar and Rouken Glen.

“We want as many people as possible to enjoy our parks and these new swings will allow those in wheelchairs to no longer just see others enjoy the play areas, they can now experience it for themselves.

“I look forward to seeing big smiles on children’s faces when they have a go.”

If you do not have a RADAR key, visit the Rouken Glen Pavilion and staff will be on hand to assist.
