The 28th Glasgow (Giffnock) Scouts raised over £7,000 from their jumble sale on Saturday, thanks to the amazing support of the local community.
Local households had donated so much stuff that it took a team of people a full week to sort.
Peter Ritchie, Group chairman said: “It was overwhelming with over 700 avid bargain hunters attending over the course of three hours! And we had an extraordinary range of goods on offer.
“There were antique desks, over 50 bikes, a mulberry handbag, rowing machines, a canoe and even a motor bike”.
Other local charities such as Cosgrove Care, Shelter and the Bike Shed collected some of the unsold items.
The Scout Group will use the funds to deliver new opportunities and adventures for young people.
They welcome new recruits of all ages including new leaders (of any age) to join in the adventure. The Group is now getting ready for its final fund-raising event of the year – it’s Nearly New Sale and Book Sale on Saturday, November 5.
Further information on joining the group and what it offers as well as forthcoming events is available on the Group’s website at www.giffnockscouts.org.uk.
