THE starting pistol for Commonwealth Games ticket sales was fired on Monday by a former Glasgow School of Sport pupil.

Glasgow 2014 ambassador Michael Jamieson dived into the refurbished Tollcross international swimming centre pool to signal sales opening.

The four-week ticketing phase is open until September 16, offering fans the opportunity to experience the action and thrills of the Games with two-thirds of tickets priced at £25 or less.

Ticket applications can be made on or via postal applications forms distributed with the Official Ticketing Guide.

Speaking at the launch, Michael Jamieson said:“Glasgow 2014 is going to be one of the highlights of my career and I’m delighted to be an official ambassador.

“The difference between watching a big multi-sport event on television or actually being there and experiencing it is second to none.”

Southside MSP Nicola Sturgeon commented:“This is a chance to be part of one of the world’s biggest events and the largest ever multi-sport event in Scotland.”

Glasgow city council leader Gordon Matheson added:“The games is an occasion not be to missed.”
