Cold snap to continue

WEATHER forecasters predict that the cold spell will continue across Glasgow this week.

While no further weather warnings have been issued, the met office five day forecast shows continually low temperatures, reaching a rare high of 5c on Thursday and lows of -1c

Severe weather has been causing transport problems throughout the week, as untreated roads were left with long icy stretches.

Transport Scotland’s multi-agency response team (MART) has said that it is monitoring the situation, “particularly in areas of transport, utilities and flooding”.

The cold spell follows widespread flooding across the country, and the AA estimates that insurers face £14 million worth of claims for cars written off because of recent weather.

Advice on driving in flooded or icy conditions is available at the AA website.
