Recently voted as Glasgow’s finest fish and chip shop in the Italian Awards– and runner-up across the whole of Scotland, proprietors Michael and Tracey DeMarco are putting their money where their mouths are.

Chip In for Crohn’s and Colitis is an initiative in support of The Catherine McEwan Foundation fund that the DeMarco’s have embraced with passion.

Tracey explained: “Our 14-year-old son was diagnosed with Crohns Disease in June 2018 after a period of extreme illness.

“On Tuesday, March 12 from 4pm until 11pm every single penny spent in the shop will be donated to the Foundation. We would like to raise as much money as possible to assist with research.”

Michael added: “As a family run business – my father Mario established the shop in 1984 – we regard our customers as extended family, the support we received just as we were refurbishing the shop knocked us out.

“We thought that this would be a great way to show community support for the foundation and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity who manage our son’s care at the IBD clinic”.

The Glasgow clinic is a UK Centre of Excellence and the research they perform is advancing Paediatric IBD care all over the world!

Mario’s hope to raise significant amounts from the days taking in conjunction with a raffle featuring over 20 prizes including Apple Home Pod, Restaurant vouchers, tickets for Edinburgh Foodies Festival, signed Rangers and Liverpool Football Tops and well being vouchers for you and even your car!

Mario’s thank their suppliers, local businesses, friends and family for donating great prizes.

If you’d like to get involved in promoting the event, donating a prize or simply want to know that every mouthful you enjoy on March 12 will contribute to a worthwhile cause that affects more and more families across Scotland then please get to Mario’s and make a meal of it!
