A local woman’s fund-raising efforts has seen more than £600 raised for the British Heart Foundation.
A Spritualist Charity Night at the beginning of the month at Pollokshaws Community Hub, raised £659 for the heart charity – all thanks to Frances Stevenson.
A charity that is close to her heart, Frances organised the event which included the talents of well-known medium Ricky Martin, a raffle with prizes donated from friends and family and other organisations and a special British Heart Foundation Cake.
Frances said: “Both my friend and mum suffered from heart problems, so the British Heart Foundation is a charity that is close to my heart. The event took six months to organise – I didn’t think it would be so much work!
“I decided on a spiritual event as Ricky is a family friend, and he suggested it. Businesses and local organisations donated items for the raffle.”
And Frances was delighted at the amount the night raised.
She continued: “I’m so pleased that we raised so much. The event sold out pretty quickly and I was getting people calling me asking for more tickets. The Community Hall is quite small, and I have no doubt that if we had a bigger venue, we would have raised more money.
“I’m delighted that so many people came along.”
