CAROLSIDE primary are celebrating after grabbing gold in the annual East Renfrewshire primary school quiz last week.
The competition, run by the Eastwood and Barrhead Rotary clubs, took place at Eaglesham primary last week.
It was fiercely contested by eight schools from across East Ren.
The Carolside team, consisting of Cameron Forry, James Baptie, Ben Ashworth and Angus Brown, were neck and neck with Mearns primary before winning on a tiebreaker.
Elsewhere, Tinto Primary is now an official eco school, having been awarded its first green flag.
The school’s eco committee established a litter pick system and all of pupils participated.
And it’s more good news from Tinto primary, which holds its spring fair next Saturday (May 18) from 10am, as part of the Southside Festival.
In addition to the traditional attractions, a vintage bus complete with “clippie” will be stopping outside to take visitors on a tour of the southside, with drop-off points at Pollok Park and the main festival site, Queen’s Park recreation grounds.
The recently opened school will be using the funds raised on the day to purchase playground equipment.
