THORNLIEBANK Seniors Forum has teamed up with Age Scotland and East Renfrewshire council for an information day on just what services are available to the area’s elderly residents.

The event takes place 11am-3pm on Wednesday, April 24, at Thorntree Hall, and will feature stalls from the Carer’s Centre, Age Scotland, Care and Repair, Voluntary Action and more.

Whether it’s having smoke alarms fitted for free, or finding out which help services you qualify for, there’s plenty of information on offer – so spread the word.

ERC community worker Elaine Grogan, part of the organising team, explained: “Not everybody knows where to access some of the services that are available to residents, or what’s out there to help and support people make the most of what’s going on in their own community.
“There is alos a lack of local knowledge about just what’s available in terms of groups and social clubs.

“This event will give people an opportunity to find all those things an to learn more about what’s available in their community. Thornliebank Seniors Forum is urging people to come along and get connected.”

Also on offer on the day are reminiscence workshops and taster sessions, as well as free tea, coffee and snacks.

Transport running throughout East Ren will be provided through My Wee Red Bus – to find out more, call Linda Anderson on 01355 279929.
