Giffnock store About Living is celebrating success after a win at The Great Gift Awards — known as the Oscars of gift retailing.

The store, which has been trading for seven years, clinched the top prize in the jewellery and fashion accessories category.

About Living’s Gary Hogan told The Extra: “All retail finalists were decided on as a result of an industry-wide poll of gift suppliers, reps, agents and self-nominations, so we are extremely proud to have made the finals this year.

“It’s very satisfying to be recognised by our peers for winning this award at The Greats.”

Elsewhere in East Ren, The Avenue may need to make room in the trophy cabinet this year after being shortlisted for three awards.

The upcoming Sceptre Awards have named Michelle McCabe in the shopping centre manager of the year category, as well as 23-year-old marketing assistant Katie Murray in the young achiever shortlist.

The Newton Mearns shopping centre will also be vying for a prize once again at this year’s East Renfrewshire Business Awards, having been nominated in the excellence in customer services category.

Manager Michelle told The Extra: “We’re delighted with this recognition of the tremendous progress made by The Avenue over the course of the last year, during what has remained a challenging trading environment for many retailers.
