Braehead Village Day 2010

COMPETITORS at Saturday's Braehead Village Day quite literally got the sack — as they took part in team sack races which were a standout during four and a half hours of fun.

John Rattray, acting chairman of event organisers Braehead Village Group, said: "The kids and adults sack races were a great success and definitely the highlight of the day for me.

"The races provided a lot of laughter and fun for the crowd, even though the competitors sustained some bumps and bruises."

Also popular at the event, held in and around the village hall, was the hole in a bucket competition, a tug of war contest between rival residents of Carnwath Road and Main Street, caber tossing, catering by Braehead WRI and The Luncheon Ladies, a raffle and hamburger stall.

The village day was the culmination of a week of activities.
