Battlefield mum is best in Britain

BATTLEFIELD primary pupil Beth Hands has the best mum in Britain – and that’s official.

The eight-year-old entered a nationwide competition recently, drawing a picture for detailing the best things about her mum, Thora.

Beth beat off competition from thousands of entries in the Perfect Mummy campaign, and was chosen by celebrity judge Emma Willis to win £200 in Littlewoods vouchers in order to treat her mum.

Beth told The Extra: “I just remember writing that the best thing about my mum is that she’s lovely and kind.

“When I went home and told my mum she was too surprised to say anything, but later she said she was thrilled.

“I’ve never won a big competition before, so it’s very exciting – I think my mum’s the best mum in the country now.”

Parents Thora and Andrew, from Mount Florida, attended a school assembly this week to see Beth presented with a certificate – and to receive mum’s voucher, which was kept a surprise until the last minute.

Dad Andrew, an artist, commented that he’d like to see Beth grow up to be a doctor or a dentist – but it seems that the artistic gene runs in the family.
