The famous Supermarket Sweep recently arrived at the ALDI store in Auldhouse and lucky shopper Lindsay Faulds, who was chosen as the winner of an instore competition, took part in the five-minute trolley dash for charity last month.

As well as taking home a trolley full of goodies, ALDI matched the total value of Lindsay’s haul and donated the lump sum to her nominated charity, Thornliebank Foodbank.

ALDI Supermarket Sweep winner Lindsay Faulds said: “I had a fantastic time taking part in ALDI’s Supermarket Sweep. From start to finish it was great fun, my family and friends were there to cheer me on and I was able to snap up so many of my favourite ALDI goodies while helping families in the area at the same time. It’s great that ALDI are going to donate the same value to the Thornliebank Foodbank, I’m delighted.

Thanks to ALDI and all the staff at the Auldhouse store for a great experience and for supporting such a worthwhile cause!”

James Donnelly at Thornliebank Foodbank said: “On behalf of our clients and the Foodbank team, I’d like to thank Lesley for choosing Thornliebank Foodbank as the beneficiary of this Supermarket Sweep and ALDI for making all of this possible. The money donated is vital to the work we do and will help us to support many more families across the area with short term emergency food provision.”

Richard Holloway, regional managing director for Scotland, said: “The ALDI supermarket sweep is now a firm favourite across the country and this time it was the turn of Lindsay Faulds from Glasgow to take part. During the five-minute sweep at our Auldhouse store, Lindsay managed to snap up a whole load of ALDI treats for herself and what’s more, raise an incredible amount for Thornliebank Foodbank.”
