It’s months away yet, in the hoped-for balmy month of June, but Eaglesham Fair is worth putting in the diary now – because it now has a completely new date.
The organisers have asked everyone interested in one of Scotland’s most exciting and eclectic summer fairs to share the new date, Saturday JUNE 3 as widely as possible (and have repeated it a few times for good measure).
A spokesperson for the organisers tells us: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but believe us when we say that it’s made the committee scramble around like dafties trying to make sure the Fair goes ahead!
“Everything we had planned is looking like they can make the switch to the new date, we hope you can too.”
Organisers are currently taking orders for stalls at the event, with the message that there will be farmers market stalls too this year, and there’s also the option of an outdoors pitch - for which, knowing the notoriously fickle weather in summer, stall-holders are welcome to bring their own tents or gazebos.
Meanwhile back at the Eg (Best Western Eglinton Arms) there’s to be a 70’s, 80’s and 90’s themed diso (admission £5), as well as a buffet and raffle,
Also appearing at the Eg will be local cheerleading team the Phoenix Flames, while face-painter Tricia McHugh will be offering face painting - presumably for the kids, but if you’ve always wanted to look like a leopard now’s your chance.
The Eg warns that tickets are already on sale and likely to go fast, so if you want to enjoy the evening entertainment you’re advised to book as soon as possible.
