MEARNS Castle pupils gathered to cheer on classmate Andrew Mullen on Friday.
The 15-year-old swimmer narrowly missed out on a medal at the London 2012 Paralympics, with two fourth place finishes.
The Newton Mearns teenager finished fourth in both the 50m butterfly final and the 50m backstroke final. He also came eighth in the 50m freestyle.
The youngster set a new British record of 39.71 in the 50m butterfly final heats.
Andrew Mullen said: “It’s been an amazing experience and really taught me how to race with nerves and just race my own race, especially with it being such a big crowd I’ve been able to focus on my own race and not let it bother me so it’s been a great experience. “In four years I’ll hopefully be bigger and stronger and I’m sure I’ll be able to catch the others then”.
The youngster faced a long commute to Tollcross for training until an article in The Extra convinced REN96 to let him join.
