Four intrepid explorers from Isobel Mair School headed off to Ayrshire for their first night under canvas in a training expedition for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award this week.
It’s the first time pupils from the Newton Mearns school have taken part in such an expedition.
Supported by East Renfrewshire Council’s young person services team, the youngsters will complete two days of walking, set up their own camp and stay in the country park overnight.
The trip builds on the physical and volunteering skills they have learned so far.
Their overnight adventure at Eglinton Country Park will help them gain the necessary skills and confidence needed towards completing a full DofE Bronze Award in mid-June.
Alex O’Donnell (17) who is working towards his DofE Bronze Award said: “I’m excited about camping out overnight and doing some walking.”
