A SOUTHSIDE fundraising team have completed a gruelling challenge in aid of the Prince and Princess of Wales hospice.
The threesome — part of a group named the Cy-Run team — took on a cycle from Glasgow to London recently, followed the next day by places in the London Marathon.
Frank Gilroy (46), from Giffnock, Christopher Hanlon (47), from Thorntonhall and Kenny Neison (42), from King’s Park, then went on to organise a charity night at the Redhurst hotel on Friday, raising £8,000 and bringing their grand total to £40,000.
The money will be donated to funds for a new hospice planned for Bellahouston park, which it is hoped will be completed by 2016 and provide specialist care for young people aged 15-25.
Frank explained: “All the patients and families that the Hospice care for face their own very difficult challenges.
“Our fundraising efforts are going to help create a brand new hospice and we had that in the back of our minds during the toughest parts of our journey”.
