IF CELTIC Connections doesn’t excite, head to the Arches for a dose of uplifting electro-pop.
M83, also known as French musician Gonzalez, appears at the city centre venue to promote late 2011 album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.
Named after a galaxy (Messier 83...of course), M83 was originally a double act featuring Nicolas Fromageau, but Gonzalez is now going it alone with just a little help from a backing band.
The sound is a dose of paired down shoegazing – less guitar, more ambient, floaty lyrics over loud instrumentals.
The Frenchman may have found the ideal venue for his brand of dream pop in the cavernous Arches — and with support from Italian one man band Porcelain Raft (another dreamer of the electronic persuasion) it may be a gig to keep in the diary.
Doors open at 7pm next Thursday (January 19) and tickets cost £12.50 for the 14 and over show.
