CHRISTMAS takes on a distinct Glaswegian twang across the river this week.
Pantomimes may be springing up left, right and centre, but Cottiers Theatre in the westend is determined to have the last laugh, staging its own show with a host of Scottish stars in the mix.
It’s from the same folk who brought you last year’s smash hit, Scrooge the Panto, which managed to stay on through wind and rain (and there was plenty of it) despite being staged in an unheated hall in the process of refurbishment.
This year’s festive fare is Weans in the Woods, starring Newton Mearns man Mark Cox (of Still Game fame) as well as Ian Bustard, Martin Docherty, Claire Knight and Floss Ross.
Follow the orphans on a journey though the Right Creepy Woods, as they take shelter at sweet uncle Jim and wicked auntie Brenda’s caravan.
Brenda’s plan is to “take care of” our heroes this Christmas – but it’s more an under the Clyde than under the tree affair.
Expect live music, original songs, magic patter and lots of laughter from the westend offering
n Weans in the Woods runs December 5-31, with doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets £10-13 from www.cottiers.com.
