The Swingcats’ new show, Sisters of Swing, is a tribute to The Andrews Sisters and the great female vocalists from the jazz and swing era, including Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Nina Simone. The Swingcats have fast become one of the nation’s finest vocal groups and fronted some of the UK’s top big bands, including The Glenn Miller Orchestra, the BBC Big Band and the RAF Squadronaires.
Critically acclaimed actress and theatre maker Julia Taudevin, who lives in Mount Florida, will then take on the role of Stella in iconic masterpiece A Streetcar Named Desire at Eastwood Park Theatre on 2 October.
The timeless American classic by Tennessee Williams was immortalised in the Oscar-winning film starring Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh and will be presented at East Renfrewshire’s top arts destination by Scottish theatre company, Rapture.
