Talented Phoenix Flames Cheerleaders have just broken into the world’s top 10 – after finishing ninth in the finals in Florida.

The Eaglesham and East Kilbride based club qualified for the world finals for a fourth consecutive year.

They’ve continued to improve each year, finishing 15th in 2015, 12th in 2016, 11th in 2017 – and now ninth in 2018.

The team – made up of girls who attend Mearns Castle High School and East Kilbride schools Duncanrig High and Calderglen High – travelled to Florida on Wednesday, April 25.

They then had three days of training at Spotlight Dance Studio on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

On the Friday evening, they also had a chance to dance on the World’s stage in preparation for their section of the World Finals on the Saturday.

The Elite team – which has three coaches and eight members – enjoyed tremendous support from the rest of the club, who participated in a range of fundraising events to help finance their trip to Florida.
