New outdoor bootcamp and body pump sessions in East Renfrewshire
East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure has launched a new outdoor fitness programme following the success of their free live online fitness classes during lockdown.
The trust is bringing a series of Bootcamp and Body Pump sessions six days per week, including weekends, starting this week.
The outdoor sessions, which will take place at Barrhead Foundry and Eastwood High School, are being hosted by four fitness favourites who have been running the trust’s free online classes over the past few months.
East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s fitness gurus Ashley Walton, Louise Lightbody, Kirsty Maclaren and Nikki Hollyman have worked throughout lockdown, bringing a varied programme of fitness classes every week to help to keep fitness levels and spirits high.
The free classes have received over 750,000 views online, with fitness fans joining in from all over the country.
Fitness instructor Louise Lightbody said: “We’re so excited to be moving to the next stage and offering our brand new outdoor fitness sessions.
“The Bootcamp and Body Pump classes will cater for all abilities, including beginners. We would love to see our dedicated fitness members coming along, people who started their fitness journey with us online during lockdown and brand new faces who want to start increasing their fitness levels.
“It’s amazing how many people have tuned in to take part in our online fitness classes and we hope to keep everyone fit, healthy and motivated during the coming weeks with our new outdoor classes.”
The new fitness sessions will follow Covid-19 safe guidelines for outdoor exercise including small class sizes and social distancing. Participants should turn up ready to train as no indoor changing facilities will be available.
Anthony McReavy, from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: “We’ve had such a positive response to our new outdoor fitness sessions already, with many classes selling out within hours of them being announced.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming back our fitness members as well as some new faces to these sessions.”
Classes are one hour long, cost £5 per session and all fitness levels are welcome.
There is limited availability for each session and places must be booked in advance.
