Lanark Archaeological Society giving you the chance to discover Clydesdale

Lanark Archaeological Society is now going to give people the chance to discover their area with a series of courses on Discover Clydesdale.

“The emphasis is on involving the communities in discovering their history and archaeology,” said the Society’s Ed Archer, pictured at the launch with Aileen Campbell MSP.

“We are going about this in the first instance through training opportunties for members of the general public who are interested in the history and archaeology of Clydesdale.

“These opportunities vary from looking at old maps, researching, photographic course, field walking and the chance to take part in archaeological excavations.”

From September onwards the group will be visiting places such as the Royal Commission in Edinburgh, Register House, the map room at the National Library, the Mitchell Library and Lanark Library.

The subjects covered will range from pre-history to the Cold War.
