Help needed to keep Greater Renfrewshire in stitches!

Threads across the County – Rural Reams needs to raise £2000 for materials to create six tapestry panels, made by local people, telling the stories of nine rural communities in the Old County of Renfrewshire.

The textile skills learning and community development project will take place across East Renfrewshire Renfrewshire and Inverclyde allowing them to tell their stories in tapestry panels, stitched artwork and a film of the project.

The communities are Eaglesham, Neilston, Uplawmoor, Bishopton, Kilbarchan, rural - Linwood, Lochwinnoch, Kilmacolm and Quarriers Village.

It will be delivered over 12 months from March 2019-February 2020.

The project will provide the opportunity for 780 people of all ages and abilities across nine communities to learn about the traditional skills of sewing and support the creation and capture of local histories.

It will provide learning opportunities for 40 people as volunteers and six unemployed young people to gain practical experience of film recording and learn about events management.

Around 100 school children from across the region will also be involved, reaching out across generations and in support of a project in their community. It will also be working with around 30 people from five targeted groups including adults with additional support needs such as “Include Me 2” Neilson.
